Commercial Torsion Springs

Torsion springs sit on a shaft above the door and do the heavy lifting — literally. The stored torque in the coils is what raises and lowers a door that might weigh a few hundred pounds. All ours are oil-tempered USA steel. To get the right replacement you need four things: wire size (calipers or count 10 and 20 coils), inside diameter, coil length without the cones, and wind direction. Left-wound goes on the right side of the bracket. Replace both springs, always, and use real winding bars.
